SUENGINE

Better judgment in the age of AI.

The internet has never been louder, and thinking clearly has never been harder. SUENGINE publishes one calm, research-grounded letter a week and builds structured decision tools — founded by a social psychologist, for people who refuse to outsource their thinking.

About

Judgment is the last
human advantage

SUENGINE began with a question that runs through decades of social psychology research: how do people make good judgments when the world around them is uncertain, polarized, and increasingly filtered through machines?

Founded by Dr. Pei Qiao, a social psychologist trained at the University of Waterloo, the company translates peer-reviewed research on human cognition into products anyone can use: analysis briefings that decode how events are being misjudged, and decision tools that make your own reasoning more rigorous.

We are privately held. We do not sell user data or rely on advertising. Our revenue comes from one source: readers and professionals who pay a monthly subscription because the work is worth it.

What we are, in one sentence: a digital media and software company — our weekly letter is free, and membership unlocks the full decision toolkit and research library for $8/month, cancel anytime.

What we build

Three products, one system: understand what is actually happening, decide what to do about it, and draw on the deepest record of how humans have handled difficulty before.

The Forge

Structured Decision Tools

Decision software grounded in wise-reasoning research: pre-mortem analysis, bias self-checks, a devil's-advocate protocol, and a decision journal that tracks how your judgment performs over time. The AI challenges your thinking — it never decides for you.

Why Now

The thinking crisis is real

Cognitive surrender

Researchers now have a name for what happens when people adopt AI output with minimal scrutiny: cognitive surrender. The tool stops being a thinking partner and becomes the decision-maker. Studies show critical-thinking skills measurably atrophy when judgment is outsourced.

Information without understanding

Content has never been cheaper to produce, and never harder to trust. The scarce skill of this decade is not access to information — it is the ability to judge what is true, what matters, and what to do about it.

AI that sharpens, not replaces

We use technology the way decision science says it should be used: to structure your reasoning, surface your blind spots, and argue against your first instinct. Every conclusion remains yours, with the reasoning visible.

A human expert behind every page

In a market flooded with machine-generated advice, SUENGINE is written and designed by a trained social psychologist. Real research, real citations, real accountability.

How we work

Grounded in research

Every product is informed by peer-reviewed behavioral science — social cognition, wise-reasoning research, and cross-cultural psychology. We don't guess what works. We cite it.

Built across traditions

Good judgment has deeper roots than any single discipline. We draw on knowledge systems refined over centuries — psychology, philosophy, and cultural traditions from every continent — and test them against modern evidence.

Designed for real stakes

Our tools aren't for casual browsing. They're for the moments when you need to think clearly under pressure: a career decision, an investment, a conflict, a headline that demands a response.

Dr. Pei Qiao, founder of SUENGINE

Pei Qiao

Founder · Social Psychologist

Dr. Pei Qiao is a social psychologist trained at the University of Waterloo, Canada, with research spanning intergroup relations, social cognition, cultural wisdom, and the psychology of meaning-making. His work examines how people form judgments, how societies navigate diversity and conflict, and how individuals find direction in times of deep uncertainty.

SUENGINE is the practical expression of this research. Rather than keeping insights locked in academic journals, Pei founded the company to build tools that make the findings of behavioral science usable by anyone whose work — or life — depends on the quality of their judgment.

"The research is clear: humans are remarkably good at finding their way — when they have the right tools and the right framework. That's what we build."
